In the dynamic world of trade fairs and exhibitions, Comexposium stands out as a leader, being number one in France and third worldwide in the organisation of trade fairs. With a commitment to improving the experience for brands and buyers, Comexposium embarked on an ambitious project to transform its marketplace into a comprehensive product catalogue. This transformation aimed to simplify contact with brands, facilitate ordering and, ultimately, develop a robust digital marketplace. Uppler, in collaboration with WPS, played a crucial role in realising this vision.

The context

Comexposium is an events and exhibitions organiser founded in 1995. This French company has rapidly become one of the world leaders in its sector. Its mission is to create opportunities for communication and exchange within a wide range of industries. Comexposium organises major events all over the world, covering fields such as food, fashion, beauty, automotive, health, technology and many others. As part of its development, Comexposium wanted to offer its suppliers the opportunity to sell their products and services on a common marketplace.

The challenge

Despite a massive database of buyers and sellers, Comexposium faced a number of challenges:

  • Lack of a suitable tool: the lack of a suitable tool to effectively manage their vast data
  • Management of product variants: the complexity of managing product variants, posing a potential barrier to sellers
  • Mass import of products: the process of mass importing products was tedious and complex
  • Calculation of delivery costs: the calculation of delivery costs was too complex

The solution

To address these challenges, Comexposium collaborated with WPS and Uppler in February 2021. Uppler provided a robust digital marketplace, offering several innovative solutions:

  • Comprehensive project management: WPS facilitated efficient project management, directing Comexposium to Uppler
  • Dedicated team: teams available to meet Comexposium’s needs, always listening and responsive
  • Advanced integration: although the initial graphical integration encountered problems, significant improvements were made in partnership with Inetum
  • Innovative features: development of features such as “Event/Networking”, with high potential, although still requiring further development

 

Why our solution?

Comexposium chose Uppler for several reasons:

  • Responsiveness and attentiveness: a team that is human, present, open to discussion and adaptable to needs
  • Lower initial cost
  • Competitive recurring costs: licence fees, TMA (Third Party Application Maintenance), support and hosting were also more affordable with Uppler
  • Innovative features: such as networking, to maximise opportunities
  • Continuous innovation: innovative features and interesting, stimulating development potential
  • Powerful product catalogue: efficient use of the product catalogue, with general satisfaction with the management and functionalities offered around the product catalogue

The results

Implementation of the marketplace and move towards a catalogue

The project began with Inetum integrating the platform, although there were some initial challenges. Over time, Comexposium was able to:

  • Gather 6,000 brands and 200,000 products: a vast database of products and brands was built up
  • Positive momentum: positive momentum with promising financial results, including a GMV of 10-15,000
  • Collaboration with AnkorStore: strategic partnership with AnkorStore, providing enhanced exposure and marketing for the platform and sellers

 

The results

The project has produced significant results:

  • Increased use of the catalogue: exhibitors enter products on the marketplace, which are then displayed by comexposium
  • Integration with AnkorStore: products are also integrated with AnkorStore, except for those without a shop, which are sent to Upple

 

Conclusion and outlook

The collaboration between Comexposium, WPS and Uppler has enabled us to overcome a number of challenges to develop an effective and innovative marketplace. The partnership with Uppler has enabled Comexposium to turn its vision into reality, creating a dynamic and efficient platform that continues to evolve to meet the needs of exhibitors at trade shows.
