What is an order cycle?

The order cycle corresponds to all the stages between placing an order until the buyer receives it. The order cycle is impacted by logistics methods which allow customers to stay informed of the progress of their order. Thanks to their order numbers and tracking numbers, customers can follow their packages step by step.

What are the different steps of an order cycle?

Order

The first step in the order cycle is the placing of the order by the customer. The customer has several options for placing an order: remotely (e-commerce site, by telephone, etc.) or in store.

  • If the customer places an order via the Internet, they will be able to collect their order using Click & Collect, via home delivery or even via delivery to a relay point.
  • If the order is placed directly in store using Order in Store. The customer has the possibility to choose where to collect their order: in store, home delivery or at a relay point.

Payment is made at the same time as the order.

Confirmation of the order

After placing an order, the customer receives a confirmation email informing them that their order has been validated and taken into account. In this email, the customer is assigned an order number.

Printing labels

Once the order has been validated, transport labels are automatically printed for the preparation of the order.

Order preparation

The ordered items are then collected and prepared for future shipment.

Transfer order

The transfer order is then sent, it will allow you to request the transfer of the order to the logistics partner.

Shipping

The order will be shipped. It will be transferred from the storage warehouse to the logistics warehouse. Shipping an order in France is estimated between 3 and 7 working days depending on the period and type of delivery chosen by the customer.

Delivery

The final step in the order cycle is delivery of the order directly to the customer. Delivery is made by a carrier who is commissioned to deliver the order to a relay point, store or to the address indicated by the customer.

Order cycle monitoring

During preparation

The customer is assigned an order number which will allow him to follow the progress of the preparation. It is important to give the customer the opportunity to track their order, this makes it easier to wait and avoid an overload of requests to after-sales service.

During delivery

Once the delivery is picked up by the carrier, the customer receives a notification from the carrier with a tracking number. This number will allow them to follow the delivery step by step and to be informed of the receipt of their package at the chosen destination.
