Meeting with Erwan, alternating Product Owner at LUNDI MATIN

by | Blog, Staff interview

Welcome to our series of staff interviews, where we take a look behind the scenes at what makes LUNDI MATIN tick.

In each episode, we have the pleasure of chatting to members of our team, finding out about their backgrounds, and exploring the interesting aspects of their role within the company.

Episode 3

It’s the turn of Erwan, one of our Product Owners, to answer our questions. He tells us about his role within the company, the challenges he faces and the highlights of his life as a work-study student at LUNDI MATIN.

Erwan tells us…

What is your job at LUNDI MATIN ?

I’ve been working as a Product Owner (PO) at Lundi Matin since October 2021, as part of the team dedicated to Lundi Matin Business, the company’s ERP software.

What are the challenges of your job?

A PO is the reference expert for the product he or she is responsible for, and carries out several tasks at the same time:

  • Managing changes to the application and the product development strategy
  • Manage anomalies by checking customer reports of abnormal operation
  • Manage customer orders and associated developments
  • Manage application updates and patch choices

Through these various tasks, I’m in regular contact with the product management, development department, maintenance and project managers.

What are the stakes of your service?

The work of a PO is functional: we will define step by step how each new product functionality will have to live and evolve in order to adapt to customer needs. The developer will then code this functionality. If a PO knows how to code, that’s a bonus, because it helps to better define and frame projects.

At LUNDI MATIN in Montpellier, we have around ten developers. Each of us is responsible for a particular piece of software: RoverCash, AirKitchen, Gezy…. There are 2 of us working on LMB and our product director is on hand to coordinate all the POs and the team of developers.

Can you give an overview of the complexity of your work?

The biggest difficulty in my job is the constant workload, and therefore managing priorities.

As PO on LMB, we’re constantly being called upon by all the departments (project manager, developer, support, etc.). It’s up to us to prioritise the feedback from each department and build our work sprints based on the needs and progress of each department.

Tell us about your greatest success!

Like Romain, I’d say the widget project, which I actually worked on with him.

I didn’t know LMB and its versions because I’d just joined the company. It was my first project and everything went really well, no problems.

As a reminder, this project led to the birth of Gezy. It is our 100% headless e-commerce solution, within the LUNDI MATIN Group, something I’m proud of in retrospect.

And recently, there’s also LMB V10, for which I’ve done a lot of work. I’m very happy with that.

What have you learnt from working at LUNDI MATIN?

I’ve learnt a lot of things, like working in a constant flow of work, which requires you to be extremely rigorous and organised.

I now know how to trust myself to make the right decisions at the right time.

I’ve also improved my technical knowledge!

What advice would you give to a new employee in your department?

Be curious, be constantly interested, ask as many questions as possible. Dare to disturb, even if the POs already have a constant workload.

Erwan’s testimonial highlights the challenges and successes of a work-study Product Owner at LUNDI MATIN. It underlines the importance of adaptability, priority management and continuous learning in a dynamic and demanding working environment.
