The context

Total Energies decided to tackle one of its main pain points: e-procurement (internal purchasing). This category of purchases accounted for almost 20% of all invoices, as well as the vast majority of suppliers identified within the company. The purchasing processes were more or less identical for the acquisition of a refinery or the purchase of office equipment, which led to a lack of fluidity and rationalisation, making the process particularly time-consuming for all employees.

The challenge

It was necessary to remedy the imbalance between the management of invoicing and the amount of internal purchases, characterised by a very large number of invoices for low purchase amounts. In addition, the purchasing department needed to be able to concentrate on strategic purchases (categories A and B), while optimising the time and resources allocated to non-strategic purchases.

The solution

The response was the launch of an internal procurement marketplace with a user-friendly B2C interface, dedicated to all C category products, in just five months. This marketplace has enabled suppliers to compete with each other, ensuring a better offer for Total Energies.
