Prepare to immerse yourself in the captivating world of those who contribute every day to making LUNDI MATIN a place where excellence comes to life.
Stephen tells us…
What is your position at LUNDI MATIN?
I am the Infrastructure Manager of the Group.
The department has between 6 and 8 people: the Transformation Director, several system administrators, as well as student-apprentices who support us in the progress of our projects.
Our team is multidisciplinary and complementary, with the aim of all employees reaching the same level of skills in order to be able to work on all our projects without distinction.
What are the concerns of your service?
The service has several missions essential to the proper functioning of LUNDI MATIN:
- Ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure, both technically and financially. We provide technical supervision and intervene very quickly in the event of an incident. We also closely monitor infrastructure costs.
- Manage restructuring and optimisation projects, particularly during company takeovers, in order to integrate external infrastructures into our own.
- Ensure access to our software for our customers, but also for LUNDI MATIN employees. They must also be autonomous in certain tasks on their clients’ accounts.
- Secure our infrastructure to guarantee the protection of the group’s added value.
Can you give an overview of the complexity of your work?
We sometimes experience tense days, I have a recent memory in mind!
One morning in May 2023, the data centre of one of our suppliers was overheating and therefore shut down. This impacts all of the customers of one of our subsidiaries, who no longer have access to their e-commerce sites. This is a critical situation and I have very little information on a time frame for restoring service from our service provider, despite close monitoring of the situation.
In the afternoon we learned that the bay was turned back on, but that our servers were not responding correctly. I immediately decided to go to the site to take action on my own and manually restart each server.
Result: The service was restored an hour later for the production part, our clients’ e-commerce sites were operational again. The office part was put back into service the next morning
Tell us about your greatest success!
I am quite proud of the improvements made to our processes recently to ensure that each intervention is optimal.
Previously, the maintenance team was largely dependent on the infrastructure team to intervene with our customers. This could sometimes make operations more cumbersome and slow down the resolution of certain types of problems.
Today we have implemented intervention processes so that the maintenance team is autonomous in the majority of cases. Thus, our processing times are considerably reduced and we provide better service to our customers.
What did you learn while working at LUNDI MATIN?
I learned to become picky, to better structure my work and to follow through on things. In a word, I have gained rigour!
I also think I have evolved in the speed of execution of my tasks, I now feel efficient in my position.
What advice would you give to a new employee in your department?
When you arrive at LUNDI MATIN, there can be a lot of information to integrate, like everywhere. But it is important not to be discouraged: once the processes are mastered, the work is fluid and well structured, it is very comfortable.
Within our department, it is also essential to trust your colleagues to work in harmony.
Thank you Stephen for your answers and your valuable advice!
